Amateur twitter user?

I activated a twitter account to follow some celebs and hope to communicate with them. I followed the twitter help guide and twitted to one young celeb and I can c my tweet in his page. But he hasnt twittered me back and he has been tweeting with other people! What should I do? Am I doing something wrong?
