When do you know when it's time to give up on someone?

I really like this guy, but he's so busy with church camps, his band, and being a youth pastor. He moves to Alabama in the fall for college and he told me that we could pursue something with me then since he won't have so much on his plate. But we haven't talked in a while. Should I give up on him and move on or be patient and wait? He's unlike any other guy I've ever dated and I've been praying for a guy like him my whole life. I don't want to give up, but I don't want to wait around for him and be miserable without any contact from him. Help?
